Reiki

Reiki is a system of natural energy healing using a hands-on or hands-above protocol to create a circuit of energy between the giver and the receiver, whereby life force energy, or ki (or chi or ji), flows naturally unencumbered throughout both beings.

I integrate it into every massage session, often unnoticeably, since reiki is similar in quality, purpose and result to the energy component in Swedish Massage. Both modalities heal holistically through safe and loving touch, an ability, even if latent, that we all share as human beings.

Indeed, Reiki often feels qualitatively much like a sweet or comforting pat on the shoulder or hand-squeeze in a time of sadness, worry or grief.

Physically Reiki may feel like a pulse or trickle of water or like heat or vibration. Some people don’t detect the physical current at all, though they may feel its benefits.

After receiving Reiki, some feel calm, reassured, relaxed and stress-free, or they may feel as if they are floating. Many people report a sense that there are multiple sets of hands on them, or that my hands are touching their feet, for instance, when they are actually touching their arms or abdomen or head. This is a quality of Reiki, whereby the body’s intelligence uses the connection according to its own needs.
